Bosnian accordionist Almir Meskovic and Romanian-Serbian violinist Daniel Lazar bring sparkling virtuosity and emotional depth to a pan-Balkan repertoire of melodies originating in Romania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Macedonia, and Serbia, expanded with original compositions adding elements from Scandinavian folk music.
Escapees from both sides of a war, they met in Norway, where they were continuing their Master degree studies at the Oslo Academy of Music, and soon began playing together.
They have performed with the Oslo Philharmonic and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and formed the international Balkan folk septet, The Kuraybers.
Their debut album, Roots, was released in 2018, highlighting their universal approach with guests such as Nepalese tabla and bansuri flute players, a pianist and a vocalists.
